Starting in 1992, Asesoftware has lead many successful, high-impact IT projects for Seguros Bolívar, a major insurance company with operations in Colombia and other Latin American countries. Seguros Bolívar has based its infrastructure on Oracle databases that serve over 1,000 internal users and customers who make domestic and international queries.

Our Organization has provided consulting services to Seguros Bolívar to assist in the development of their information systems, including treasury, budgeting, fixed assets, interfaces and bank reconciliation. One further interesting experience involved the setting up of “Siebel” for the consolidation of their different customer databases by following a CRM model.

In compliance with Seguros Bolivar’s downsizing strategy, Asesoftware carried out an “Oracle Database Server Consolidation” project that consisted of migrating their database technology platform to HP DL585 Servers on a Linux operating system, Oracle 9.2 and RAC. Prior to this project, Seguros Bolívar had 32 databases scattered across multiple servers running on different versions of Oracle engine and operating systems. This resulted in high costs of both licensing and management. On the other hand, the company did not have a solution with high availability or high scalability potential. At this time, four servers support 32 databases on a uniform platform, which has ensured easier management and development of new projects such as those involving the continuity of the business.

We also provide fine-tuning, backup and recovery for the “Tronador” system that supports core business processes.

Asesoftware performed a modernization of this agency’s legacy systems to J2EE technology through multiple technology applications used in the nationwide effort against crime (crime reports, complaints and claims, crime statistics, Police supply management, and billing).

This development was based on Oracle’s ADF framework and was designed to upgrade 245 modules including forms, reports and processes. These were integrated to the Police Department’s corporate portal and provide access through more than 300 points distributed throughout Colombia.
